Top 10 Car Movies of all time

We polled literally no one and gave no consideration to anyone else or their opinion. Here are the top 10 best cars movies to date:

#10. Fast and Furious

Fast and Furious – IMDB

MV5BMjAwNTQ0Nzc2M15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNTk1MDIwNA@@._V1_SX214_AL_

Why we love this movie:

While we love to rip the living shit out of this movie for various reasons (ie realism, no actual car knowledge…etc) it did help spawn a new generation of car enthusiasts… now if we could just get them to stop painting their cars neon orange and pink, that would be helpful.

“No one comes here for the tuna!”

#9. Rush

Rush – IMDB

MV5BMTQyMDE0MTY0OV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMjI2OTI0OQ@@._V1_SX214_AL_

Why we love this movie:

Most of what this movie consists of is kinda sorta maybe what happened in real life, it does allow us a pretty neat fictionalized version of what life in F1 is like. Non-car people alike will enjoy this movie.

#8. Mad Max

Max Max – IMDB

MV5BMTM4Mjg5ODEzMV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMDc3NDk0NA@@._V1_SX214_AL_

Why we love this movie:

It’s funny, it’s grotesque and it’s got NITRO! In a post-apocalyptic world, we kinda hope cars look like this.

#7. Vanishing Point

Vanishing Point – IMDB

MV5BNTU5ODY5NjY0Ml5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMDI4OTQyMQ@@._V1_SY317_CR4,0,214,317_AL_

Why we love this movie:

A supercharged dodge Challenger (we never do see the engine, such bullshit) races through the desert to deliver a package to some one at some point at some time, we frankly don’t care. What we do care about is the sheer awesomeness that is this movie. The ending is pretty damn weak, but it makes up for it with car nerdgasms.

#6. Lemans

Le Mans – IMDB

MV5BMTc4ODgzNDc3N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwODExOTIyMQ@@._V1_SY317_CR4,0,214,317_AL_

Why we love this movie:

A good portion of this movie was filmed during the actual 24 hours of Le Mans, good luck finding that anywhere outside of “Truth in 24” which is self-aggrandizing to the hilt. This is all racing, little dialogue and hits all the high notes of a good racing movie.

#5. Drive

Drive IMDB

MV5BOTM1ODQ0Nzc4NF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMTM0MjQyNg@@._V1_SX214_AL_

Why we love this movie:

So, officially not a true to spirit “car movie” this movie is just plain solid on all four corners. Gosling’s character plays a stunt driver by day and a wheel man by night with very strict rules. A very good cast with a very good over all movie, this makes the top ten because it’s a great all around movie for non-car buffs and car enthusiasts alike.

#4. American Graffiti

American Graffiti – IMDB

MV5BMjI5NjM5MjIyNF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwNjg2MTUxMDE@._V1_SX214_AL_

Why we love this movie:

It’s just classic and spawned more car stuff than we can imagine. Nuff said.

#3. Love The Beast

Love the Beast – IMDB

MV5BMTMwODQ1NjU5Ml5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMzk0OTUyMg@@._V1_SY317_CR15,0,214,317_AL_

Why we love this movie:

If you’ve ever had a relationship with a car, you’ll totally get this movie. If you haven’t ever had the pleasure, you’ll soon find out. This movie has great cameos by Jay Leno, Jeremy Clarkson, Eric Bana (of course) and follows the time Eric Bana crashed his very first car face first into a tree.

#2. Senna

Senna – IMDB

MV5BMTc5MTUzOTAxMl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwODQzMjg3NA@@._V1_SX214_AL_

Why we love this movie:

This movie shows not only god damned corrupt the FIA and F1 is but also has the backdrop of a documentary of one of the worlds best racers. Senna unfortunately has passed away from a wreck at Imola, but we think he’d find this movie very fitting of his life’s work.

#1. Gone in 60 Seconds

Gone in 60 Seconds – IMDB

MV5BMjIxMzExMTI4OF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwNzU5MjMxMDE@._V1_SX214_AL_

Why we love this movie:

Extremely light on plot and heavy on the vasoline covered lenses, the original Gone in 60 Seconds (not that pile of puke with Nicolas Cage) is non-stop car chases scenes filmed on real California highways with real California traffic. Rumor is that HB Halicki knew that the CHP didn’t like to work weekends so he’d film the more dangerous car chase highway scenes on those times.

In addition, this movie was shot with only one Mustang being the ‘crash’ vehicle, while another was used for the beauty shots. How many movies can say the only used one car to smash to bits? Hmm?
