Daniel Morad grabbed the lead with under 40 minutes left and never gave it back. The result: TR3 Racing’s first endurance win, a Pro-Am class victory and third-place overall finish for the No. 9 Mercedes-AMG GT3 at Road America’s inaugural SRO GT World Challenge America three-hour race.
Brayton Williams opened the race and turned in what his co-driver called a defining stint, holding position through heavy traffic before handing off to Morad. Morad, Williams’ coach as well as his co-driver, converted the gap into a 6.433-second winning margin. Williams achieved the win in only his sixth GT3 race, making it one of the faster ascents to the top step in the series.
The attrition made the clean finish more significant. Just 14 of 23 starters reached the checkered flag. Mercedes-AMG was the only manufacturer with multiple full-season entries to get every car home, placing two cars in the overall top three and all three inside the top seven.
JMF Motorsports’ No. 34 entry of Michai Stephens and Mikael Grenier finished second in class and overall, extending their Pro class championship lead to three points with two rounds remaining. Their season includes a class win and an overall victory at Sonoma Raceway. The sister No. 27, driven by Jason Daskalos and Philip Ellis, had to absorb a full engine swap during the weekend and ran with virtually no practice time. They salvaged a top-five Pro-Am finish and seventh overall anyway.
Grenier noted that Barber Motorsports Park, the next round on September 25–27, suited their car well last year. The finale at Indianapolis carries double points, which keeps the math fluid for any team still within range.
The TR3 win also made Mercedes-AMG the first manufacturer this season with Pro or Pro-Am victories from each of its full-season entries, with JMF’s No. 27 having taken a Pro-Am class and overall win at Road Atlanta the round prior. That’s a coordination of results across three separate customer teams that no competing manufacturer has matched in 2026.
In the Pirelli GT4 America races run alongside the GT3 main event, Eddie Killeen and Laura Hayes delivered a second-place Am class finish in the wet Saturday race in the No. 37 Dome Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT4, their second podium of the year after a third at the Sonoma season opener. Marc Miller escaped injury after a heavy multi-car accident in Saturday’s opening sprint, though the No. 39 JMF Mercedes-AMG GT4 weekend was otherwise forgettable for the team’s GT4 entries.
For TR3, the Road America result is the team’s third career win in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in GT World Challenge, following two Pro class victories Morad co-drove to at VIR in 2023. The first endurance win in a series that has lengthened its featured races is a different category of result. Morad said the margin came from flawless pit work and a simulator program with Williams that has compressed what would normally take multiple seasons of track learning into one.
The next round at Barber Motorsports Park starts a two-race sprint to the championship. With double points on offer at the Indianapolis finale, the Pro class title remains unsettled despite JMF’s three-point cushion.
