Ford has unveiled the 2025 Maverick Lobo, a new addition to its lineup inspired by the lowered truck era from the mid-1980s to the early 2000s. The Maverick Lobo is designed for customers looking to personalize their trucks for street performance, complementing the Maverick Tremor’s off-road capabilities and the Maverick Hybrid’s efficiency.

The idea for the Maverick Lobo began when Maverick designer Josh Blundo joined Ford in 2019. Blundo saw the potential in the Maverick’s clay model and began modifying it with features like a widebody, wings, front splitter, and custom wheels. This vision led to a special build by Tucci Hot Rods that received praise at the 2021 Special Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) trade show. This success inspired the Ford team to bring the Maverick Lobo to life.

Engineers like Keith Daugherty worked on tweaking the springs and suspension and testing components from other Ford performance-oriented vehicles to create an authentic on-road performance truck. The result is the Maverick Lobo, featuring a lowered ride height and a suspension tuned for on-road performance. It is equipped with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine, tested to Built Ford Tough standards, and backed by a factory warranty.

The Maverick Lobo sits half an inch lower in the front and 1.12 inches lower in the rear compared to the standard Maverick, with the overall roof height lowered by 0.8 inches. Performance-tuned steering makes the truck handle more like a performance car, with torque vectoring through a twin-clutch rear drive unit found on the Bronco Sport and enhanced brakes with dual-piston front brake calipers from the Focus ST sold in Europe.

For those inspired by drifting and autocross, the Maverick Lobo features a new drive mode called Lobo mode. This mode improves cornering performance, grip, and stability by activating the truck’s torque vectoring and reducing the stability control system’s capability. Lobo mode is meant only for closed courses, similar to the Mustang’s track mode.

To handle demanding performance driving, the Maverick Lobo has an upgraded cooling system that includes a larger radiator, fan from the Maverick’s 4K towing package, and a transmission oil cooler.

Visually, the Maverick Lobo maintains the Maverick’s aesthetics with a unique front fascia, painted rear bumper, and rocker moldings, contrasted by a black-painted roof and 19-inch black wheels. The interior is inspired by street art, featuring Grabber Blue and Electric Lime accent stitching, graffiti-inspired overprints on the seats, and the Lobo name embossed into the black driver and passenger seats.

The Maverick Lobo is available in two configurations: standard and high. The standard configuration includes all the abovementioned features, while the high configuration adds comforts like a heated steering wheel and seats, Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0 driver-assist technologies, a 360-degree camera, spray-in bedliners, and a moon roof. Starting in early 2025, the high configuration will also include Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist.

Pro Trailer Hitch Assist simplifies hitching a trailer by using the rear camera and corner radars to align the hitch with the trailer coupler, controlling the truck’s speed, steering, and braking to stop at the right place. Once hitched, Pro Trailer Backup Assist makes backing up a trailer easy by allowing the driver to turn a knob to indicate the trailer’s direction while reversing into position.

Ordering for the 2025 Maverick Lobo begins today, with deliveries starting in early 2025 and late availability on high-configuration models. The Maverick Lobo offers a new canvas for modern street truck builds, combining value, versatility, and high performance in a way only the Maverick can.
