Cadillac didn’t need to win the race. Going into the 29th Annual Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on October 4, the points cushion was large enough that a single car starting the race would have locked up the Manufacturer title. Three cars started. The sweep was never really in doubt, and it arrived anyway: Cadillac claimed the 2026 IMSA GTP Manufacturer, Team, and Driver championships all on the same afternoon.
The Team and Driver titles went to the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac entered by Action Express Racing, with Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber, and Frederik Vesti sharing driving duties. Aitken’s Driver championship is his first IMSA series title in his third full season as a prototype driver for Cadillac Racing. The No. 40 from Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing, shared by Jordan Taylor, Louis Deletraz, and Colton Herta, finished third at Road Atlanta. The No. 10, driven by Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque, and Will Stevens, came home fourth. The No. 31 took seventh after getting caught in a late-race accident.
The race result was almost beside the point. Cadillac’s V-Series.R had built a commanding points advantage across the season on the strength of consistency. GM Vice President of Global Motorsports Competition Eric Warren cited 10 consecutive podium appearances stretching back to last year’s Indianapolis round as evidence of what he called a “Team Cadillac” approach, with Wayne Taylor Racing and Action Express working as a coordinated effort rather than strictly as rivals. That coordination paid off in the final standings across all three championship categories.

For the Manufacturer title, this is Cadillac’s fifth since 2017 and its 11th IMSA manufacturers’ crown overall. The V-Series.R platform, which entered competition in 2023, has now been part of championship-winning campaigns in multiple seasons. Action Express Racing previously won IMSA championships with Cadillac in 2018 and 2021, adding the 2026 Team title to a record that makes them one of the more decorated operations in the series.
Cadillac’s focus now turns to the World Endurance Championship, where the V-Series.R has also competed internationally. Sébastien Bourdais piloted the No. 38 Cadillac V-Series.R at Le Mans in June, one of three factory-supported entries at the 94th running of the race. The WEC season runs parallel to IMSA on the calendar, and GM has signaled intent to pursue results in both series heading into 2027.
The next IMSA GTP round is the 65th Rolex 24 at Daytona, scheduled for January 30 to 31, 2027. Daytona is where the IMSA season begins and where Cadillac’s title defense will open. Arriving with three championships and 10 straight podiums worth of momentum is not the worst way to prepare for it.
