Honda placed five vehicles in the top 10 of the Cars.com 2026 American-Made Index, more than any automaker. The Passport SUV, Ridgeline pickup, Odyssey minivan, Acura MDX SUV, and Accord sedan all made the cut, giving Honda half the top 10 slots in this year’s ranking.
The Accord’s return to the top 10 carries weight beyond the ranking itself. Honda built the first U.S.-made Accord in Marysville, Ohio in November 1982, and the model is marking its 50th anniversary this year as the highest-ranking gas-powered car in the index. The Accord was also the best-selling car in America over the past 50 years.
Honda also led all automakers with seven vehicles in the top 20, three more than any competitor. The Acura RDX and Integra joined the five top 10 models to round out Honda’s presence in the upper half of the index.

The Alabama Auto Plant in Lincoln, Alabama produced three of Honda’s five top 10 vehicles: the Ridgeline, Odyssey, and Passport. Over the 21-year history of the American-Made Index, the Alabama facility has produced more top 10 vehicles than any other plant in America. The plant also builds the Pilot, which did not crack the top 10 this year but has appeared in previous rankings.
What the historical data shows is consistency. Honda has placed 57 vehicles in the top 10 across the 21-year run of the index. General Motors is second with 53 vehicles, Toyota third with 40, and Ford fourth with 31. Tesla, despite a shorter production history in the U.S., has logged 22 top 10 appearances.

The Cars.com methodology weights final assembly location, domestic parts content, engine and transmission origin, and U.S. manufacturing workforce relative to an automaker’s total footprint. Five of Honda’s seven top 20 vehicles were designed and developed by Honda engineers in the United States: the Passport, Ridgeline, Odyssey, Acura MDX, and Acura RDX. The Acura RDX, Integra, MDX, and Honda Accord are produced exclusively in Ohio. Engines for all seven models come from Honda’s Anna, Ohio powertrain plant. Transmissions are sourced from facilities in South Carolina, Georgia, and Ohio depending on the model.
More than 62 percent of Honda and Acura vehicles sold in the U.S. in 2025 were made in America, the second-highest percentage of any full-line automaker. Honda purchased over $33.7 billion in parts and materials from U.S. suppliers in 2025 to support production of Honda and Acura vehicles. The company operates eight automobile and engine plants in the U.S. across Ohio, Indiana, Alabama, and Georgia, and has produced more than 33 million cars and light trucks in America over the past 40 years.
The index release comes as domestic content requirements and supply chain transparency have become recurring themes in federal policy discussions. Honda’s 40-year U.S. manufacturing history positions it well for a regulatory environment that increasingly privileges local assembly and sourcing, though the index itself is a media ranking rather than a compliance measure.
