Hyundai is using its founding stake in IONNA to put money back in owners’ pockets at the charger. Starting August 19, 2026, eligible Hyundai and Genesis EV owners receive a permanent 10% discount on every session at any IONNA fast-charging station in the U.S., applied automatically through the MyHyundai with Bluelink app or via Plug & Charge. No codes. No manual input. The discount triggers when the session starts.
Through September 30, IONNA stacks an additional 10% bonus on top of the standing discount, bringing the total to 20% for a limited window. BMW and MINI drivers are receiving the same 20% stacked rate through September under a parallel arrangement, which suggests IONNA is rolling out tiered founding-partner benefits across the joint venture rather than treating Hyundai as a one-off case.
The eligible vehicle list covers the IONIQ 5 from the 2022 model year forward, the IONIQ 5 N from 2025, the IONIQ 9 from 2026, and the KONA Electric from 2025. On the Genesis side, the GV60 and Electrified GV70 both qualify from the 2026 model year. Hyundai says more models will be added as In-App Charging rolls out to additional nameplates. The discount applies only when sessions are initiated through Hyundai In-App Charging or Plug & Charge functionality; sessions started through the IONNA app directly or other methods do not qualify.
IONNA currently operates more than 150 locations. The joint venture counts BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Toyota among its founders, and has committed to deploying more than 30,000 charging points by 2030. That founding structure is what makes the discount possible: Hyundai isn’t negotiating a third-party rate, it’s drawing on a benefit built into its ownership stake. Hyundai’s earlier charging arrangements, including a kilowatt-hour allotment for 2021 Kona Electric and IONIQ owners through Electrify America, required separate enrollment and expired. This one is intended to continue indefinitely, though Hyundai and IONNA both reserve the right to modify or end it without notice.
A few things remain unsettled. The permanent discount covers IONNA stations only, which leaves owners dependent on other networks for the majority of their public charging. Hyundai hasn’t disclosed whether similar arrangements are planned with other charging operators. And the eligible-vehicle list, while growing, currently excludes older IONIQ 5 owners who bought before the 2022 model year cutoff and any Hyundai EV not yet equipped with In-App Charging.
IONNA is still a young network building toward scale. Whether the discount matters to a given owner depends almost entirely on how many IONNA stations sit along their regular routes. For owners near an IONNA Rechargery, it’s a frictionless benefit. For everyone else, it’s a reason to route through one when the option exists.
