BMW is sending the 2027 X3 M50 xDrive into December with more power and a new styling package that darkens every surface that can plausibly be darkened. The power bump applies to every X3 M50 xDrive; the darker aesthetic is optional. Together they represent a meaningful mid-cycle sharpening of the only M Performance model in the current X3 lineup.
Output from the 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline-six with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance climbs 44 hp to 437 hp. BMW also fitted an enhanced exhaust system for a deeper, more resonant note. The result is a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds, or 4.0 seconds using the 1-foot rollout method. For context, the M50 arrived on the current generation with 393 hp, itself already a significant step over the M40i it replaced. The 2027 update pushes the car further without touching the fundamental architecture. Notably, the 2027 BMW M350 xDrive lands at the same 437 hp figure from a similar inline-six, making the X3 M50 a direct powertrain peer to that upcoming performance sedan.
The Black Package, exclusive to the M50 xDrive, is the visual story. On the outside, 22-inch Jet Black 1134M alloy wheels replace the standard options, an inch larger than what was previously available in the range. M Sport brake calipers wear a high-gloss black finish with a monochrome M logo. Exterior badges and M logos follow the same high-gloss black treatment with silver outlines.

Inside, black Alcantara spreads across the driver-side instrument panel, the area in front of the central display, the inductive-charging smartphone tray, door trim, and the center-console armrest. The headrests carry an embossed M logo. Upholstery is black Alcantara and Veganza with blue stitching and piping. M interior trim uses an aluminum-carbon structure; M seatbelts, black floor mats with M color flags, glass accents on selected controls, and a leather-covered steering wheel airbag module specific to the package round out the changes. Black Package cars also add Dark Silver door-sill finishers with a black M logo.
BMW has been consistent about one thing: the Black Package is purely a styling exercise. The 44 hp gain applies to every 2027 X3 M50 xDrive whether or not the package is specified, and the package adds nothing mechanical. That separation matters for buyers who want the power but not the blacked-out aesthetic, or vice versa.

Beyond the M50 changes, every 2027 X3 model receives interior updates in December. A PVC Softskin surface replaces the harder material in front of the central display, the instrument panel gets a new stitching pattern, and ambient lighting extends to the center-console storage compartment and interior door handles. A new glove-box opener and stainless-steel cargo-sill edge protectors complete the lineup-wide refresh.
The 2027 X3 M50 xDrive carries a base MSRP of $67,500 plus $1,350 destination. The Black Package adds $3,800. BMW has not announced whether the broader X3 30 xDrive lineup will see pricing adjustments alongside the December interior updates. Both the M50 and Black Package are available beginning December 2026.
BMW confirmed the X3 G45 generation will not receive a full M variant, which makes the M50 the performance ceiling for this nameplate. The 2027 BMW iX3 M60 xDrive will offer 603 hp and a 3.9-second 0-60 on the electric side when it arrives in spring 2027, but for buyers committed to combustion, the 437 hp M50 is where the X3 story ends. At that power level, with a 4.3-second 0-60, it now earns that position without much argument.
