2027 Ford Bronco RTR Arrives With Anti-Lag Engine Tune, Desert-Ready Suspension, and a Sub-$60,000 Ceiling

Ford and RTR Vehicles have built a factory desert runner. The 2027 Bronco RTR joins the Bronco lineup as a high-speed off-road variant aimed squarely at dune runners and open-terrain drivers, bringing a motorsport-derived engine tune and bespoke suspension to a segment that until now leaned heavily toward rock-crawling credentials.

The mechanical foundation distinguishes this from a cosmetic special edition. Ford fits the Bronco RTR with a unique calibration of the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder that includes an anti-lag system, upgraded engine cooling, and rock rails as standard equipment. Underneath, a wide-track HOSS 1.0 suspension with a lift combines with 33-inch tires to give the truck a pre-runner stance straight off the transport. Square fenders, beadlock-capable 17-inch wheels, and signature LED lighting round out the standard visual package.

For buyers wanting more, the options ladder climbs quickly. The available Sasquatch Package with RTR Suspension Package swaps in 35-inch tires, a Ford Racing heavy-duty modular front bumper, and HOSS 3.0 Fox Internal Bypass Dampers, moving the Bronco RTR from capable desert runner into genuinely aggressive off-road hardware. Appearance options include the Hyper Lime appearance package and the RTR Appearance Graphics Package for those prioritizing the look over the hardware upgrade.

Pricing is structured to keep the fully equipped version under a meaningful threshold. The base Bronco RTR starts just over $50,000, and Ford says a fully optioned example, adding the Hyper Lime package, the Sasquatch with RTR Suspension Package, and the RTR Appearance Graphics Package, comes in just under $60,000 before destination and delivery. Ford has not announced exact MSRP figures for the individual option packages.

The RTR partnership started with the 2026 Mustang RTR and expands here into Bronco territory, carrying the same “fun haver” philosophy: championship-level engineering at an attainable price rather than as a six-figure halo play. That puts the Bronco RTR in a different conversation from the Bronco Filson, which targets the premium end of the 4×4 market in the mid-$70,000s with a 3.0-liter V6 and premium cabin materials, or the Desert Rising Horizon Series edition that approached customization from a different angle.

The Bronco RTR debuted at the 2026 Detroit Auto Show. Orders open in October 2026, with sales beginning in January 2027. The Bronco’s momentum heading into the new model year is real: the nameplate moved 146,007 units in 2025, its strongest full year since the current generation returned in 2021 and a 21.6 percent gain year-over-year. Ford has closed the gap significantly on the Jeep Wrangler in the midsize off-road segment, though the Wrangler still holds the edge on total sales including fleet and commercial volume.

A factory-built desert racer at just under $60,000 fully loaded is the Bronco RTR’s pitch. On paper, it’s a difficult offer to argue with.
