2027 Kia K5 Priced From $27,690 as EX Trim Exits and GT-Line Gains New Convenience Package

Kia has priced the 2027 K5 from $27,690, trimmed the lineup from four trims to three, and added a convenience package to the GT-Line. The changes are modest on paper, but the pricing shift is worth tracking: the 2026 K5 opened at $28,735, meaning the 2027 LXS comes in $1,045 lower at the entry point.

The 2027 K5 is largely a carryover model. Kia dropped the EX trim, leaving the LXS, GT-Line, and GT as the only choices for 2027. In practice, that narrows the ladder without dramatically changing what buyers get at each step. The GT-Line at $28,690 sits just $1,000 above the LXS; the all-wheel-drive GT-Line asks $30,290. The performance-oriented GT, running a 290-hp 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, starts at $33,790. All four prices exclude the $1,245 destination charge.

The one meaningful addition for 2027 is a new convenience package for the GT-Line, which bundles ventilated front seats, a driver memory seat, and power-folding exterior mirrors. Those are features that typically appear higher up a trim ladder in this segment, so their availability on the GT-Line is a legitimate value argument for buyers who want everyday comfort without stepping into GT territory.

The GT is otherwise unchanged from 2026. Its 290-hp turbo engine remains the headline number, and Kia has not announced any revisions to the powertrain or chassis for this model year. The GT also shaved $1,100 off its starting price compared to the 2026 model’s $34,890, which is the most tangible news for buyers shopping at the performance end of the lineup.

Kia’s decision to hold the K5 relatively steady for 2027 makes sense against the sedan segment’s backdrop. The K5 posted a 57 percent sales increase in 2025, the highest growth rate among Kia’s models that year. A car performing that well doesn’t need a reinvention; it needs competitive pricing and incremental upgrades that keep the existing buyer base engaged. The lower entry price on the LXS and the trim-exit of the EX accomplish the first; the GT-Line convenience package handles the second.

The K5 competes against the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, and Nissan Altima. The Accord and Camry continue to lead the midsize sedan segment in volume, but neither of those nameplates posted 57 percent growth in the same period. Kia is playing catch-up from a smaller base, and the K5’s aggressive pricing has been central to closing that gap. Starting under $28,000 in a segment where the Accord and Camry routinely open north of that keeps the K5 in legitimate contention for budget-conscious buyers who still want a compelling driving experience.

The 17 standard driver assistance features Kia lists across the lineup are consistent with what Kia has been doing across its 2027 model year vehicles. The 2027 Telluride earned IIHS Top Safety Pick+ status under tightened criteria, and the 2027 Niro similarly ships Highway Driving Assist 2 as a standard feature. Kia has made broad ADAS availability a consistent selling point across the lineup rather than a premium-trim exclusive, and the K5 follows that same pattern. The 2027 Sportage continues that trend in the SUV segment with standard driver assistance across all trims.

Kia has not announced on-sale timing for the 2027 K5 beyond the model year designation.

A 290-hp midsize sedan starting under $34,000 with standard driver assistance on every trim is a strong value proposition. Kia just needs the sedan market to keep buying into it.
