Lexus isn’t rebuilding the LX for 2027. It is, however, making each grade slightly harder to ignore. New darker-finish 20-inch wheels on the Premium, standard red brake calipers on the F SPORT Handling, a Palomino interior option on that same grade, one-touch power-folding rear seats dropping in on F SPORT Handling and Overtrail, and a digital rearview mirror becoming standard on Premium. None of it reshapes the vehicle at a structural level, but collectively it fills in gaps buyers at this price point tend to notice on extended ownership. The 2027 LX arrives at dealers later this year with a starting MSRP of $109,050, a $2,050 increase over the 2026 LX 600 Premium’s $107,000 entry point.

The lineup runs seven trims across the two powertrain families. The LX 600, powered by the 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 409 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, covers three grades: Premium at $109,050, F SPORT Handling at $116,910, and Luxury at $117,850. The LX 700h hybrid, which pairs that same V6 with an electric motor for 457 net combined horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, runs the top four: Overtrail at $118,055, F SPORT Handling at $120,910, Luxury at $121,850, and Ultra Luxury at $143,350. All prices include Lexus’s $1,550 delivery, processing, and handling fee. Fuel economy on the LX 700h is rated at 20 MPG combined.

The F SPORT Handling Changes

Red brake calipers sound like a cosmetic note, but on the F SPORT Handling they sit alongside genuinely differentiated hardware: uniquely tuned front and rear performance dampers, a Torsen limited-slip differential, and a rear stabilizer, plus dedicated EPS and AVS calibrations. The Palomino interior option is new on this grade, adding a warm tan contrast to what had been a sportier-palette-only lineup. Buyers who wanted the F SPORT Handling’s dynamics without its darker interior tone now have a path.

The 22-inch forged aluminum wheels and F mesh spindle grille with jet-black chrome frame carry over unchanged. On the LX 700h F SPORT Handling specifically, the Overtrail’s electronically controlled front and rear locking differentials are not in the mix; that hardware stays on the Overtrail grade, which sits $2,145 below the hybrid F SPORT Handling in the pricing ladder.

Overtrail and Hybrid Off-Road Capability

The LX 700h Overtrail is where Lexus concentrates its serious off-road hardware. Beyond the standard Torsen center differential splitting power 50:50 front to rear, the Overtrail adds electronically controlled front and rear locking differentials for situations where the Torsen’s grip distribution isn’t enough. Multi-Terrain Select covers four L4 modes (Auto, Sand, Mud, Rock) and five H4 modes (Auto, Dirt, Sand, Mud, Deep Snow), and when MTS is engaged, the Multi-Terrain Monitor uses four cameras from the Panoramic View Monitor system to project underfloor, front, side, and rear images onto the 12.3-inch display.

The hybrid system adds a dimension in low-range driving: motor-driven torque is available in L4, enabling motor-only operation in conditions requiring precise throttle control, such as rocky paths or deep snow. The LX 700h also carries a 27.5-inch water fording capability, backed by a waterproof tray around the hybrid battery with an integrated water sensor that alerts the driver if ingress occurs. One-touch auto-arrange power-folding rear seats are now standard on Overtrail, a convenience addition that simplifies cargo reconfiguration after a trail run without requiring manual seat manipulation.

Powertrain Mechanics Worth Knowing

Both the LX 600 and LX 700h use the same 10-speed Direct Shift Automatic Transmission, which uses a low first gear for strong off-the-line pulling and cross-stepped gear ratios for crisper sequential shifts. Lockup activates across nearly the full operating range, which produces the direct feel of a manual without the torque interruption at launch that a true DCT would introduce.

The LX 700h’s hybrid architecture is worth a closer look because it’s the first Lexus hybrid system to include both an alternator and a starter as standard components. The practical implication: if the hybrid system goes offline, the starter handles independent engine ignition and the alternator keeps the 12V auxiliary battery live, allowing the vehicle to continue operating on the combustion engine alone. That failsafe is useful anywhere service is remote. The nickel-metal hydride main battery sits under the luggage compartment in two-row configurations and beneath the third-row seat in three-row versions; both configurations preserve the departure angle. The LX 700h also adds a waterproof AC inverter under the center console capable of supplying up to 2,400 watts for external power, plus a center console Cool Box and rear manual sunshades as standard features.

Interior and Technology

The cabin layout centers on a 12.3-inch upper touchscreen paired with a 7-inch lower screen dedicated to climate and off-road system controls, including differential lock status, Drive Mode Select, Downhill Assist Control, Crawl Control, and vehicle height adjustment. Five massage programs for the front seats are available with semi-aniline leather trim, adjustable across five intensity levels. The driver-focused cockpit keeps gauges, Head-Up Display, and primary controls within the forward sightline.

At the top of the hierarchy, the Ultra Luxury grade is a four-seat configuration built around rear passenger experience. Curved headrests, seatbacks, and cushions with soft urethane construction wrap around the occupant. A rear control panel manages audio, climate, seat, and lighting from the second row. Side and quarter window sunshades, reading lights, a rear seat display, and an overhead ceiling vent air conditioning system are all standard. The 25-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound is available on Luxury and Ultra Luxury grades; the base system is a 10-speaker setup standard across the lineup.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard on every 2027 LX, covering Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection, all-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with stop-and-go capability, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Road Sign Assist, Intelligent High Beams, and Proactive Driving Assist. Traffic Jam Assist, which provides hands-free steering assistance in low-speed highway conditions, is available with a Drive Connect subscription. Advanced Park with Remote Park, which enables smartphone-controlled parking maneuvers, is exclusive to the LX 700h.

Lexus is steadily electrifying its SUV roster from multiple directions: the 2027 Lexus TZ brings a fully electric three-row option with 402 hp while the LX holds its position as the performance-focused, body-on-frame flagship with genuine low-range capability. The two vehicles don’t overlap in buyer profile, but together they represent Lexus covering the full range of what a full-size luxury SUV can be in 2027. Quarterly sales of 1,704 units in early 2025 confirm the LX carries consistent demand for a vehicle at this price and scale.

Red calipers and a Palomino interior won’t rewrite the segment. A seven-trim ladder from $109,050 to $143,350, 457 hp and 583 lb-ft in hybrid form, and 27.5 inches of fording depth will keep the conversation going just fine.
