Acura will chase the front-wheel-drive course record at Pikes Peak on June 21 with an Integra Type S DE5 that makes north of 360 hp and runs HRC US-developed suspension. Two-time Formula Drift champion Dai Yoshihara will pilot the car in the Time Attack 1 division, aiming to crack the 10:48.094 set in 2018 by Acura engineer Nick Robinson in a 500-horsepower TLX.
The Integra Type S DE5 is the latest in HRC US’s line of touring cars, following the 10th-gen Civic Si and Type R and the 11th-gen Civic Si FE1. The chassis strips soundproofing, underbody coating, and seam sealers, then adds a roll cage and aero. Power comes from a modified version of the production Integra Type S’s 2.0-liter K20C8 turbo-four, co-developed by HRC US and HRC Japan. Output exceeds 360 hp, routed through a six-speed sequential paddle-shift transmission. PRL Motorsports supplied the high-volume intake, charge pipe, and tube-fin intercooler to compensate for the thin air at 14,115 feet; Borla built the three-inch exhaust. Yokohama Advan A005 tires and HRC US-developed brakes complete the package.
This is Acura’s 16th consecutive year at Pikes Peak. The brand has racked up 12 division wins, over 30 podiums, and multiple course records across that span. The front-drive benchmark Robinson set eight years ago remains the target; Katherine Legge came close in 2024 with a 10:51.359 in an earlier Integra Type S build, finishing in the top five of the TA1 class a few seconds off the record.

Two-time U.S. Olympian and Team USA Bobsled pilot Kaysha Love will drive the MDX Type S pace car to the summit. Her fiancé, Hunter Powell, rides shotgun; he competed at Milano Cortina 2026 as a Team USA bobsledder. The MDX Type S wears a red-white-and-blue livery drawn from Love’s bobsled colors. Love transitioned from elite gymnastics and collegiate track to bobsled in 2020, became a pilot in 2023, and won the Monobob world title in 2025. At Milano Cortina she finished fifth in the two-woman event with a time of 3:49.71 and seventh in the women’s Monobob at 3:59.27.
Love is an Acura athlete ambassador. As part of Acura’s partnership with USA Bobsled/Skeleton, she has worked with engineers at the Honda Automotive Laboratories of Ohio to improve her sled’s performance. Honda is the Official Automotive Partner of Team USA and a Founding Partner of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The MDX Type S pace car is the high-performance variant of the MDX, which Acura calls America’s best-selling three-row luxury SUV of all time based on Autodata figures from 1980 through April 2026. The 2026 MDX Type S runs a turbocharged V6, torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, height-adjustable air suspension, adaptive dampers, and Brembo front brakes.
HRC US launched a consumer performance-parts business in 2024, with prototypes shown at the 2025 SEMA Show. The line covers engine, suspension, and braking upgrades along with weight-reduction components. The Integra Type S DE5 is sold directly to racers and competes in the top class of SRO TC America.
The 104th Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb runs June 21. The 12.42-mile course climbs from 9,390 feet to 14,115 feet across 156 turns.
