General Motors (GM) is integrating its BrightDrop electric commercial van unit into the Chevrolet brand, enhancing the visibility and accessibility of these innovative vehicles. This strategic move brings BrightDrop electric vans to one of the largest sales and service networks in the commercial vehicle sector, benefiting a wide range of customers.

BrightDrop electric vans, known for their estimated 272 miles of combined city and highway driving range, are designed with advanced features that prioritize driver safety and alertness. By aligning with Chevrolet, BrightDrop customers can now access a comprehensive network of dealers trained to sell and service these electric vans.

“Adding BrightDrop to the Chevrolet lineup combines advanced EV technology with the reliability and extensive accessibility that Chevrolet offers,” said Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet. “This move strengthens our electric vehicle offerings and reaffirms our position as a leading commercial brand that enables businesses—big and small—to get work done efficiently.”

Chevrolet dealers can sell BrightDrop vans after meeting specific commercial electric vehicle (EV) requirements. Once certified, these dealerships will also provide BrightDrop products service, enhancing operational uptime for commercial fleet operators. This expansion is expected to streamline the purchasing and servicing process for businesses looking to invest in electric vehicles.

BrightDrop was first introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2021. In 2023, the brand was integrated into GM Envolve, the company’s fleet business that serves thousands of commercial and government clients. This integration into Chevrolet is anticipated to broaden its market reach further.

“The Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 and 600 models will continue to feature state-of-the-art technology designed to enhance efficiency, reduce tailpipe emissions, and optimize service and delivery operations,” stated Sandor Piszar, vice president of GM Envolve. “Incorporating BrightDrop into the Chevrolet portfolio will expand its reach and accessibility, providing more customers with the tools they need to meet their productivity and carbon-neutral goals.”

The BrightDrop vans will continue manufacturing at the CAMI Assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario. GM Canada President Kristian Aquilina expressed pride in the production capabilities of the CAMI facility, noting, “This branding evolution is a testament to the potential GM and Chevrolet see for BrightDrop in the electric fleet market and to CAMI’s production capabilities as Canada’s first large-scale EV manufacturer.”
