Chevrolet has announced that the all-new, all-electric Chevrolet Equinox EV is now available. Designed to provide customers with a seamless, confident, and uncompromising transition to electric vehicles (EVs), the Equinox EV boasts an EPA-estimated range of 319 miles on front-wheel-drive (FWD) models.
Leading The Charge –
“We are at a turning point where EVs will be the mainstream choice for the next generation of customers, and Equinox EV will lead this charge for us. With the flexibility of GM’s Ultium Platform, we are bringing to market vehicles at nearly every price point and for every purpose.”
-Mary Barra, Chair and CEO of General Motors
The Equinox EV aims to be an accessible option for many, currently starting at an MSRP of $43,295. Additionally, the base Equinox EV LT, with a starting MSRP of $34,995, will be available for ordering later in the year.
Chevrolet’s Vice President Scott Bell highlighted Chevy’s strategic positioning: “Chevrolet is now positioned to offer a wide array of EVs. We know truck and SUV customers better than anyone, and we’ve channeled that insight and experience into our new EVs.”
Design and Features –
The Equinox EV features a bold and athletic design, instantly recognizable as a Chevy SUV. It offers two distinctive personalities — LT and RS — in both FWD and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations. Key design highlights include:
- Sleek lines and sporty proportions enabled by the Ultium Platform
- Available walk-up lighting with front and rear lighting animation and a unique light bar on mid- and up-level LT and RS trims
- Standard 19-inch wheels, with available 21-inch wheels depending on the trim
- Available AutoSense liftgate that opens hands-free when sensing the key fob near the back of the vehicle
- Available two-tone white roof on LT and black roof on RS
Interior Comfort and Technology –
The Equinox EV offers a streamlined, modern interior that accommodates five passengers. It includes features like personalized multi-color ambient lighting and a smart infotainment system with a large, 17.7-inch diagonal screen and Google Built-in, which includes Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Play Store. The spacious cabin offers numerous storage solutions and up to 57.2 cubic feet of max cargo space with the rear seat folded.
For added comfort, the Equinox EV includes heated front and rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, and a heated windshield wiper park feature to keep the area around the wipers clear of ice buildup.
Advanced EV Technology –
Chevrolet ensures a seamless EV transition with support such as available navigation and route planning through the MyChevrolet app, which helps locate and plot routes to charging stations. By collaborating with industry partners, GM is accelerating the installation of accessible public charging stations throughout North America. The MyChevrolet mobile vehicle app provides access to over 174,000 public chargers across the U.S. and Canada.
“The Equinox EV has the range to take you where you want to go, the spaciousness for your passengers and gear, and the technology to do it all comfortably and confidently,” said Bell.
Safety Features –
The Equinox EV prioritizes safety with a comprehensive list of standard features, including:
- Chevy Safety Assist, which includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams
- Rear Park Assist
- Reverse Automatic Braking
- Safety Alert Seat
- Rear Cross Traffic Braking
- Blind Zone Steering Assist
- Adaptive Cruise Control
The Equinox EV is also available with GM’s Super Cruise, the industry’s first true hands-free driver-assistance technology. This technology allows hands-free travel on more than 400,000 miles of compatible roads across the U.S. and Canada.
Electrifying Capability –
The Equinox EV offers a standard front-wheel-drive system with GM-estimated 213 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft. of torque, delivering quick acceleration and a fun driving experience. An available eAWD variant drives all four wheels and features 288 horsepower and 333 lb.-ft. of torque.
Standard One-Pedal Driving and regenerative braking convert the vehicle’s forward momentum into electricity stored in the battery pack, maximizing driving range.
Charging Technology –
The Equinox EV includes the latest in charging technology:
- Standard 11.5 kW Level 2 (AC) charging, which can add up to 34 miles of range per hour of charging, per GM estimates
- Standard DC fast-charging capability of up to 150 kW, enabling approximately 77 miles of range to be added in 10 minutes, per GM estimates
GM covers the Equinox EV’s battery with an 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty and standard bumper-to-bumper coverage for added peace of mind.
Available for Fleet and Retail Customers –
As with the new Blazer EV and Silverado EV, the Equinox EV also caters to fleet customers, offering zero-emissions driving, zero gas stops, and the potential for reduced maintenance. “Chevy’s fleet customers have EV goals, and the all-new Equinox EV helps achieve them,” said Bell.
