Toyota is recalling approximately 82,000 vehicles in the U.S. for 12.3-inch combination meter displays that can go blank during startup and fail to show safety warnings to the driver. The affected models are 2024–2025 Toyota Land Cruiser and Mirai, and Lexus UX and GX.
Some areas of the display may become blank when the vehicle starts, preventing warnings and indicators from reaching the driver. That failure means the vehicles do not meet federal safety requirements. Continued driving without the warnings displayed could delay the driver’s response to a developing problem and increase crash or injury risk.
The defect is a repeat issue for Toyota’s display hardware. In September 2025, Toyota recalled nearly 662,000 Lexus and Toyota vehicles because the same 12.3-inch displays could fail, an earlier iteration of what is now showing up again in the 2024–2025 model years. A separate recall in October 2025 pulled in approximately 1,025,000 vehicles, including Land Cruiser and Mirai among other Toyota and Lexus models, for backup camera display problems.

That history suggests the 12.3-inch combination meter Toyota uses across its lineup has not stabilized. The current recall affects four nameplates spanning both brands, from the hydrogen-fueled Mirai sedan to the body-on-frame Land Cruiser and Lexus GX off-roaders to the subcompact Lexus UX crossover. The common thread is the display hardware, not the platform or powertrain.
The fix is a software update to the combination meter. Dealers will perform the update at no charge to owners. Toyota will begin sending notifications to all known owners of affected vehicles by late July 2026.
