2027 Ram Chassis Cab Adds Night Edition Package and Surround-View Camera Across the 3500, 4500, and 5500

Ram is giving its commercial workhorse a style option and a new camera system for 2027. The updated 3500, 4500, and 5500 Chassis Cab lineup adds a Night Edition package for Big Horn and Laramie trims and extends a 270-degree surround-view camera system across all three models. Orders are open now, with trucks built at Stellantis’s Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Mexico.

The Night Edition package brings black-painted wheels, satin black badging, a sport performance hood, body-color grille surround, body-color front bumper, body-color fender flares, and ParkSense front and rear park assist. It is available on Regular Cab and Crew Cab configurations of the 3500, 4500, and 5500. Ram had previously announced the Night Edition for the Chassis Cab lineup at $3,045 on Laramie models. The visual treatment mirrors Ram’s approach to the broader 1500 and 2500/3500 pickup lines, where blackout packages have sold well enough to justify extending the concept into the commercial segment.

The surround-view system provides a 270-degree camera field and includes a Mopar wired auxiliary camera with trailer reverse guidance, filling a gap that buyers running upfits and large trailers will notice immediately. Pairing it with the existing telescoping trailer tow mirrors and Trailer-Tow Pages gives operators a more complete monitoring picture than the outgoing model offered.

Powertrains are unchanged. The 6.4-liter HEMI V8 makes 375 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque, paired to a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic on 3500 models or the heavier TorqueFlite HD eight-speed on 4500 and 5500 applications. The 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel inline-six, revised with heavy-duty pistons, a new turbocharger, a performance intake manifold, larger intake and exhaust valves, and a higher-pressure fuel system, produces 360 hp and 800 lb-ft. Both engines back into the TorqueFlite HD eight-speed with an electronic column shifter. The diesel also features a top-load lubrication system designed to simplify routine maintenance, integrated fuel filtration, and glow plug-assisted cold-start capability for operation in low-temperature environments.

Capability figures stay the same as the figures Ram established for the current generation. The 3500 Chassis Cab with the diesel tops out at 25,680 pounds of towing, 6,830 pounds of payload, and a 33,000-pound GCWR. With the HEMI, those figures are 18,880 pounds towing and 7,710 pounds payload. Moving up, the 4500 diesel reaches 29,440 pounds towing and 8,560 pounds payload at a 37,500-pound GCWR; the 4500 HEMI manages 21,240 pounds towing and 9,390 pounds payload. At the top of the range, the 5500 diesel claims 34,540 pounds towing, 11,530 pounds payload, and a 43,000-pound GCWR, while the 5500 HEMI handles 21,230 pounds towing and 12,370 pounds payload.

The upfitter-friendly architecture remains intact: industry-standard cab-to-axle lengths of 60, 84, 108, and 120 inches, no components above the rear frame rails, through-the-frame plumbing and electrical routing, and a DEF tank refill port at the rear driver-side cab. An available 2.4-kilowatt onboard power inverter includes a relocatable service point for upfit flexibility. The available dual alternator system provides up to 480 amps. A class-exclusive electronic front axle disconnect is available on 4×4 models for efficiency when four-wheel traction is unnecessary, and class-exclusive active air grille shutters help manage engine temperature and aerodynamic drag. Fuel capacity reaches up to 74 gallons through a 52-gallon primary tank paired with a 22-gallon auxiliary.

The model lineup runs Tradesman, Big Horn, Night Edition, and Laramie. Ram Chassis Cab retail sales climbed 20 percent in Q2 2025, and the 2027 updates appear designed to hold that commercial momentum without disrupting a formula that is clearly working for fleet and vocational buyers.
