Ram made good on a promise today. When the brand unveiled the all-new 2027 ProMaster City earlier this year, it committed to a starting price below $45,000 for the Canadian market. The number it delivered: $41,995 plus $2,795 destination for the Tradesman Cargo, making the ProMaster City the lowest-priced entry in the Canadian commercial-van segment.
The four-trim Canadian lineup ladders up from that base. The Tradesman Passenger Wagon starts at $45,995; the SLT Cargo at $43,995; the SLT Passenger Wagon at $47,995. All prices exclude the $2,795 destination charge. Vehicles reach Canadian dealers in the second quarter of 2027.
Powering all variants is a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder producing 166 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque, routed through an eight-speed automatic to the front wheels. The outgoing ProMaster City used a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four making 178 hp, so the new turbocharged unit trades 12 hp at peak for a torque-first character more suited to loaded cargo runs. Payload and tow ratings come in at 2,000 lbs each, and the 167-cubic-foot cargo area accommodates standard 4-by-8 construction sheets. Cargo height inside is 54 inches; the distance between the rear wheel wells clears 48 inches.

Ram’s case for the van rests partly on what it doesn’t have: height. At under 80 inches tall, the ProMaster City fits in standard parking structures, a practical advantage in dense urban markets where tradespeople often park alongside regular passenger vehicles. That clearance comes while still offering a 111-inch load floor.
Standard equipment on both trim levels includes a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen with navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, an electronic shifter, and a 5-inch digital rearview mirror. The SLT adds front parking sensors, a wireless phone charger, a heated steering wheel, fog lamps, and 17-inch dual-tone aluminum wheels with body-color bumpers.
Safety content is broad for the segment. Every ProMaster City ships with forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking, Driver Attention Alert, automatic LED headlamps with automatic high beams, hill-start assist, a ParkView backup camera, rear parking sensors, and a programmable speed limiter. Passenger Wagon configurations add second- and third-row side-curtain airbags.

Buyers can configure the van five ways. Three window and panel combinations pair with two rear-access choices: rear swing doors or a segment-exclusive rear liftgate. The Cargo can be ordered with full security panels, side panels with rear glass, or either of those with the liftgate substituted for swing doors. The Passenger Wagon adds a third-row seat option that pushes capacity from five to eight. Ram also notes that all primary mechanical systems sit forward of the cargo floor, leaving the box open for upfitter work without routing around hardware.
The ProMaster City returns to Ram’s Canadian commercial lineup alongside the Ram 1500, Ram 2500/3500 Heavy Duty, Ram 3500/4500/5500 Chassis Cab, and the full-size ProMaster van. Ram has not announced on-sale timing for the United States beyond the model year designation.
The previous ProMaster City peaked at 15,972 deliveries in 2016 before a prolonged sales decline. Ram is betting the new model’s pricing discipline and updated safety content can rebuild that volume in a segment that thinned considerably in the years the nameplate was absent. At $41,995 before destination, it has a number to work with.
