Dodge Extends Taillamp Warranty on 2018–2024 Durango, Opens Reimbursement for Past Repairs

Dodge is extending the warranty on the liftgate taillamp assembly for certain 2018–2024 Durango vehicles, covering rear LED taillamps that may not illuminate or may only partially illuminate. Coverage grows to five years with unlimited miles from each vehicle’s in-service date. For vehicles already beyond that window, Dodge is offering six months from the customer notification date.

Affected owners will receive a notification letter by mail. No action is needed if the taillamp assembly is functioning correctly. Owners experiencing the condition now, or if it develops in the future, should contact a dealer for the appropriate repair at no charge.

Owners who previously paid out of pocket to fix this specific issue may be eligible for reimbursement. Claims can be submitted online at fcarecallreimbursement.com or by completing the Customer Reimbursement Claim Form included in the notification letter. Dodge Customer Care is available at 1-800-4ADodge for questions.

The coverage extension follows complaints that Stellantis had been aware of taillight and liftgate problems going back to 2020. Plaintiffs in related litigation have alleged repair costs reaching $2,000 per vehicle. The warranty extension stops short of a formal recall but functionally broadens protection for a population of owners who faced exactly that kind of expense.

Dodge has precedent for this approach. A prior coverage extension on the Active Head Restraint system for certain 2014–2015 Durango vehicles stretched to 10 years and unlimited miles, showing the brand is willing to use extended warranty actions to address components with long defect horizons.

The timing lands during a run of strong Durango sales. Retail sales rose 18% in the third quarter of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, and the third quarter was the Durango’s best Q3 total-sales performance since 2005. Full-year 2025 was even bigger, up 37% year over year for the brand’s best annual total since 2005 as well. A warranty action that leaves a visible, brand-defining component dimly lit or dark is a real risk to that momentum, particularly given the racetrack taillamp’s role as one of the Durango’s most recognized styling signatures.

Dodge has not announced how many vehicles fall within the affected population, nor has it specified whether a parts replacement or a more targeted repair will be the standard fix at dealerships.
