For the second consecutive month, Mazda walked away with a record or near-record headline. October delivered 31,446 U.S. sales, a 25 percent gain over October 2025 and the second-best October total in the brand’s history. With 28 selling days against 27 a year ago, the daily selling rate increase moderates to 20.5 percent. Still, the number is real: Mazda has now strung together a sequence of strong months after a painful start to 2026.

The CX-90 MHEV turned in its best-ever October, selling 4,620 units against 2,153 a year ago, a 114.6 percent gain. That figure stands out partly because the CX-90 spent much of the year running in reverse. In July, the model posted a best-ever monthly result even as total Mazda volume fell 13 percent, and the turnaround has continued. Year-to-date, the CX-90 has reached 39,619 units, though that still trails the prior-year pace by 15.5 percent.

The Mazda3 had the month’s most striking number: 3,534 units, up 145.4 percent from October 2025’s 1,440. The sedan variant drove most of that, moving 2,606 units compared to 920 a year earlier. The hatchback added 928 units against 520. That kind of year-over-year swing is easier to produce off a weak prior-year base, and October 2025 was exactly that. Year-to-date Mazda3 volume sits at 36,020 units, up 48.4 percent over the same period in 2025.

The CX-50 posted 8,249 units for the month, essentially flat against October 2025’s 8,351 and technically the second-best October for that nameplate. Year-to-date, the CX-50 has accumulated 103,600 units, up 17.8 percent over the same stretch last year. The CX-5 held its volume-anchor role with 9,689 units in October, up 7.9 percent. The CX-30, meanwhile, continues to erode: 37,748 units year-to-date, down 25.3 percent from 50,537 in the same period of 2025.

The CX-70 had a standout month, climbing 295.9 percent to 1,358 units from 343 a year ago, though its year-to-date total of 11,044 actually runs below the prior-year pace. The MX-5 Miata combined for 634 units in October, with the RF variant at 269 and the soft-top at 365.

On the certified pre-owned side, 6,544 units moved in October, up 5.9 percent and a best-ever October for the CPO program. That extends a pattern: June also set a CPO record, and August held the CPO line even when new-vehicle sales slipped. A pre-owned program that keeps posting records alongside new-vehicle volume suggests the used-market side of the business is healthy independent of the monthly new-car swings.

In Canada, Mazda reported 6,446 vehicles sold in October, a 5.4 percent decline. Year-to-date Canadian volume sits at 62,594 units, down 11.6 percent from a year ago.

Through ten months, U.S. volume totals 341,714 units, down 0.9 percent versus the same period in 2025. After September’s best-ever monthly result of 34,519 units and now a near-record October, the year-to-date deficit has narrowed considerably from the 6.9 percent hole Mazda sat in after May. Two months left. The math is close enough to make it interesting.
