2027 Nissan Frontier Adds Sport Edition Package, All-Terrain Tires Hit SV Trim

The 2027 Nissan Frontier Sport Edition brings all-terrain tires and PRO-4X-inspired styling to the SV trim.

Nissan is adding a Sport Edition package to the 2027 Frontier SV, bringing all-terrain tires and blacked-out styling cues from the PRO-4X down to the midsize truck’s volume trim. The package arrives when Nissan’s sales momentum is worth noting: Frontier volume jumped 47.9% in the first quarter of 2026, though the brand still sold 67,027 units in all of 2025, down slightly from the 69,813 it moved in 2024.

The Sport Edition package is available on SV 4×4 and 4×2 configurations. It includes 17-inch black wheels wrapped in 265/70R17 Hankook Dynapro all-terrain tires, an aluminum skid plate, LED fog lights, and front accent lighting. Nissan applies a black lower fascia, grille, and mirrors, plus yellow accent stitching inside on black upholstery. Sport badging appears on the bedsides and tailgate.

The all-terrain tire availability is the operational news here. Until now, buyers wanting factory-fitted all-terrain rubber on a Frontier had to step up to the PRO-X or PRO-4X grades. The Sport Edition extends that option to the SV, which is where most Frontier buyers land. Nissan frames this as answering customer demand for more off-road capability without the full PRO-grade commitment, which is plausible given that the Colorado, Tacoma, and Ranger all offer mid-tier off-road packages below their top trail editions.

Nissan also adds a Qi2 wireless charger to the PRO Convenience package, using magnets to align the phone and a fan to manage heat during charging. A new Alpine Metallic paint joins the color list. The PRO-X and PRO-4X now offer a moonroof package when paired with the Convenience Package, which previously was not an option.

The base powertrain remains a 3.8-liter V6 built in the U.S., rated at 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. Maximum tow rating is 7,150 pounds in the lightest King Cab configuration. The Frontier is built at Nissan’s Canton, Mississippi plant.

Pricing will be announced before the 2027 Frontier reaches dealers this summer. The current 2026 model starts at $32,150 for the King Cab and $36,190 for the SV Crew Cab, which gives a baseline for where the Sport Edition upcharge will land.

The Frontier competes against the Chevrolet Colorado, Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger, GMC Canyon, Honda Ridgeline, and Jeep Gladiator. The Sport Edition puts Nissan in the game of offering a styled-up, lightly trail-ready package on a non-flagship trim, which is where much of the midsize segment’s transaction volume happens. Whether that momentum from the first quarter holds depends on whether Nissan can keep the pricing modest enough that SV buyers see the Sport Edition as an affordable step rather than a reason to wait for a PRO-grade incentive.
