Dodge is making its Woodward Dream Cruise appearance count this year. On Saturday, August 15, the brand sets up at St. George Greek Orthodox Church at 43816 Woodward Avenue in Bloomfield Township from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, bringing the 600-horsepower Charger Super Bee Launch Edition, the new Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen concept, and the public debut of a color that hasn’t shown up on a production Charger before.
That color is Red Oxide, a dark new exterior shade Dodge is dropping at Woodward before it reaches showrooms. Fans who photograph the car and tag @dodgeofficial are, predictably, part of the plan. Color reveals at cruise events are a straightforward formula, but Red Oxide is a darker, more industrial direction than the saturated reds Dodge has leaned on historically, and seeing it in person on a production body is the point.
The display’s hardware centerpiece is the 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee Launch Edition, which Dodge describes as the quickest, fastest, and most powerful SIXPACK Charger yet and the highest specific horsepower muscle car ever produced. Output is 600 horsepower from the 3.0-liter twin-turbo SIXPACK high-output engine. That puts it above the Charger Scat Pack, which uses the same SIXPACK H.O. engine at 550 horsepower, and well above the standard Charger R/T’s 420 horsepower. The full-electric Charger Daytona Scat Pack remains the power leader in the lineup at 670 horsepower, but the Super Bee is the highest output SIXPACK combustion variant in the family. All Chargers come standard with all-wheel drive and are available in two-door coupe or four-door sedan configurations.
Dodge is also showing the Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen concept, which pairs the 392 cubic-inch HEMI V-8 with a custom appearance treatment. It’s a concept, so production intent is unconfirmed, but its presence alongside the Super Bee reinforces that Dodge is pushing the Durango’s performance identity as hard as the Charger’s heading into this model cycle. The production Durango R/T 392 is already in the lineup and, per Dodge, delivers the most horsepower per dollar for a gas SUV. For those who want more, the Durango SRT Hellcat’s supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V-8 makes 710 horsepower, a figure Dodge calls the most powerful gas SUV ever built.
Beyond the headliners, the display includes a Toxic Orange Durango SRT Hellcat Jailbreak and a Cha Ching Charger Scat Pack, both highlighting the brand’s Color Jailbreak customization program, which Dodge claims opens up more than 14 million potential combinations on the Durango SRT Hellcat. New Tinted Dual Stripes graphic-package vehicles round out the customization showcase.
Direct Connection Grudge Match champion John O’Malley will appear at the display with his modified Dodge Charger Scat Pack, tuned to 1,000 horsepower. O’Malley won the Grudge Match bracket at Roadkill Nights, giving him some earned credibility to stand next to cars making considerably less power on Woodward.
This marks the sixth consecutive year Dodge has partnered with the Modern Street HEMI Shootout community for the HEMI’nsanity show along Woodward, now in its 11th year. The Dream Cruise pulls more than a million enthusiasts to the corridor annually, making it one of the more direct lines Dodge has to its core buyer without an ad campaign or a dealership in the way.
Buyers of a Charger Super Bee Launch Edition, Charger Scat Pack, Charger Daytona Scat Pack, or Durango SRT Hellcat also receive one day of performance driving instruction at Radford Racing School as standard. That’s a detail worth knowing before writing the check.
