Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling 391 units of their 2025 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator vehicles due to a potential issue with the rearview camera image. The rearview camera image may fail when the vehicle speed reaches 10 MPH or greater, resulting in reduced rear visibility and an increased crash risk. This issue causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111, “Rear Visibility.”
Affected vehicles include specific units of the 2025 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator that are equipped with the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) software that did not receive the intended software update at the assembly plant. Consequently, these vehicles may experience a loss of rearview camera image while in reverse at speeds exceeding 10 MPH.
