Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling 121 units of its 2023 to 2024 Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, Civic Sedan, Civic Hatchback, Pilot, and 2024 HR-V, Acura Integra and Acura Integra Type S vehicles. The driver’s seat cushion frame may not have been tightened properly, which can result in an unsecured seat. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 207, “Seating Systems.”
During the production of the driver’s seat cushion frame, some bolts were improperly torqued, allowing them to loosen and fall off over time.
If a bolt falls off, the driver’s seat may become unsecured and rock or wobble during use, increasing the risk or severity of an injury in a crash.
Due to a software error in the robotic bolt fastener for the driver’s seat height adjuster links, the torque tool controller and the torque tool robotic arm controller lost synchronization and loosened bolts that had previously been tightened to proper torque specifications.
Dealers will replace the driver’s seat cushion frame free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on January 6, 2025. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or nhtsa.gov.
