Rivian has introduced the second generation of its popular R1T pickup and R1S SUV, packed with extensive upgrades and innovative features while maintaining its iconic design. These next-gen vehicles are engineered for enhanced performance, efficiency, and a more advanced driving experience.

Enhanced Performance for Every Adventure –
The new R1 models are equipped with powerful new drive units developed in-house by Rivian. They are available in both Tri-Motor and Quad-Motor configurations and boast impressive specs. The R1T Quad-Motor version, with a staggering 1,025 horsepower and 1,198 lb-ft of torque, can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 2.5 seconds using Launch Mode. A Dual-Motor option is also available for those seeking a bit less power. All were designed and manufactured by Rivian.
Rivian has also redesigned the battery packs to offer more range and efficiency. The new Large and Max battery packs provide up to an estimated 420 miles on a single charge. A cost-effective Standard pack using lithium iron phosphate technology offers up to 270 miles of range.

Cutting-Edge Technology –
The second-generation R1 vehicles feature a completely revamped electrical architecture and computing platform. By reducing the number of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) from 17 to 7, Rivian has streamlined the vehicle’s electrical system, enhancing efficiency and reducing complexity. This has also allowed for removing 1.6 miles of wiring from each vehicle.
Rivian’s new in-house developed autonomy system called the Rivian Autonomy Platform, offers advanced driver assistance features. With 11 cameras, five radars, and powerful AI technology, the system provides 360-degree visibility and is designed to perform well in all weather conditions. Features like high-resolution Blind Spot Monitoring and Highway Assist come standard, while an enhanced version, Rivian Autonomy Platform+, offers even more capabilities.
Comfort and Efficiency –
Rivian has taken rider comfort and efficiency to new heights with a redesigned heat pump-based thermal system, which improves cabin comfort and helps conserve battery range. New 22-inch aero wheels and tires have been introduced to reduce drag, further optimizing range and efficiency. An updated suspension and air springs provide a smoother ride on paved roads without sacrificing off-road capabilities.
New Features and Options –
Rivian has added several new features to enhance the driving and ownership experience. Drivers can now use car keys stored in their Apple Wallet or select Google Pixel devices to unlock and start their vehicles. The Rivian Premium Audio system, featuring Dolby Atmos, provides an immersive sound experience.
A new subscription service, Connect+, allows for streaming video through Google Cast and offers access to over 3,000 apps, including a deeply integrated Apple Music experience with over 100 million songs and 30,000 playlists.
For those looking for a touch of luxury, the interior now features a Dynamic Glass Roof that can be tinted electronically, customizable interior lighting, and a redesigned user interface powered by Unreal Engine, which brings a vibrant and playful style to the vehicle’s software.
Sustainability and Efficiency –
Rivian continues its commitment to sustainability with these new models. The second-generation R1 vehicles achieve a 15% lower lifetime carbon footprint than the first generation, thanks to more efficient manufacturing processes and improvements in materials. These vehicles are also built with an innovative electrical zonal architecture, which reduces parts and lowers manufacturing costs.
Pricing and Availability –
The new R1S SUV’s starting U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is $75,900, while the R1T pickup’s MSRP is $69,900. Both models are being produced at Rivian’s factory in Normal, Illinois, and deliveries are available immediately. Customers can place their orders on the Rivian website.
