The 2024 Jeep® Wagoneer has achieved the distinguished TOP SAFETY PICK rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), underscoring its commitment to safety and advanced protective features.

Bill Peffer, Senior Vice President and Head of Jeep® North America, expressed pride in this accomplishment: “This recognition affirms the dedication of our engineers, who have integrated cutting-edge technology into every aspect of the Wagoneer’s design. A robust body structure combined with over 120 standard and available advanced safety features creates a secure environment for drivers and passengers alike.”

High Marks in Crash Tests –

The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer underwent stringent crash tests by the IIHS to earn the TOP SAFETY PICK rating, receiving “good” ratings in critical areas such as:

  • Small Overlap Front
  • Moderate Overlap Front (Original Test)
  • Side Impact

Achieving a “good” rating, the highest possible score, indicates the vehicle’s excellent performance in protecting passengers during crashes. Additionally, the Wagoneer’s headlights received “good” or “acceptable” ratings, mandatory for all trim levels to qualify for this safety award.

Advanced Pedestrian Safety –

The Wagoneer’s pedestrian front-crash prevention system, Full-Speed Collision Warning with Active Braking, also earned a “good” rating. This system is crucial for preventing accidents involving pedestrians, performing well in IIHS tests both at night with an adult crossing and during the day with a child emerging from behind an obstruction.

Using a combination of camera and radar sensors integrated into the front bumper, the system detects and tracks pedestrians and cyclists in real time. If a collision seems imminent and the driver has not taken action, the system automatically applies the brakes to avoid or mitigate the impact.

Comprehensive Safety Suite –

The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer comes standard with a range of safety features designed to enhance protection and provide peace of mind:

  • Blind-Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection
  • Trailer Sway Control

These features collectively enhance the vehicle’s overall safety, making the Wagoneer a reliable choice for families and individuals seeking a secure driving experience.

Leading Among Large SUVs –

The Jeep Wagoneer stands out as the only model among three popular large SUVs tested to qualify for a 2024 TOP SAFETY PICK award. Competing models like the Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Expedition fell short due to subpar performance in the small overlap front crash test. While more than 90% of new models have achieved good ratings in this evaluation since 2021, these large SUVs showed deficiencies, especially in protecting back seat passengers — a key factor that prevents the Wagoneer from earning the higher-tier TOP SAFETY PICK+ award.

IIHS President David Harkey commented on the challenges faced by large SUVs: “The huge mass of these large SUVs provides some additional protection in crashes with smaller vehicles, though that also means they present more danger to other road users. The flip side of their large size is that there is a lot more force to manage when they crash into a fixed obstacle like a tree or bridge abutment or the barrier we use in our front crash tests.”

Despite these challenges, the Wagoneer outperformed its competitors, solidifying its position as a leader in safety among large SUVs.
