Subaru is saving something for the faithful. On September 27, the company will pull the wraps off limited-production, enthusiast-focused editions of the 2027 Subaru BRZ and 2027 Subaru WRX at Boxerfest 2026, held at the York Fairgrounds in York, Pennsylvania. Tickets are available at Boxerfest.com.
That’s essentially the whole announcement. Subaru has not shared powertrain specifications, pricing, production numbers, or any detail distinguishing these editions from the standard 2027 WRX and BRZ. What the company has confirmed is that both cars will make their public debut at Boxerfest, a fan-run gathering that draws Subaru owners and enthusiasts from across the East Coast.
The timing is worth noting. The standard 2027 BRZ already saw a pricing adjustment earlier this year, with the Limited trim starting at $36,140 and the tS at $38,770, both gaining a wide-angle EyeSight mono camera across the full lineup. Whatever Subaru has planned for Boxerfest sits on top of that foundation, but the company isn’t saying how far above it.
The WRX and BRZ occupy different corners of Subaru’s sports car catalog. The current WRX runs a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine making 271 hp; the BRZ uses a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter flat-four rated at 228 hp and 184 lb-ft. Both are niche products by mainstream volume standards, which is precisely the point of releasing limited editions in front of the crowd most likely to care. Boxerfest is not a general auto show. The people attending on September 27 already know what these cars are.
Subaru has a history of using motorsports and enthusiast events to debut performance variants before they reach dealers. A reveal at Boxerfest, five days after this announcement, suggests the editions are production-ready rather than conceptual, though nothing is confirmed until Saturday.
If the limited-run models arrive with meaningful mechanical content, pricing will be the next question. The WRX starts at $37,750 in standard trim; the BRZ Premium opens at $33,210. Any enthusiast package that adds suspension, braking, or powertrain hardware will push both figures higher. Subaru has not announced what those figures will be.
Saturday’s reveal will answer most of what matters. Until then, Boxerfest has the floor.
