Over the past few years, we have seen a thrilling collaboration between American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) and GMC. However, several months ago, AEV unveiled its GMC Sierra Grande Concept. Born from the DNA of the renowned Sierra HD AT4X, this off-road marvel embodies the spirit of adventure and rugged exploration.
At the heart of the Sierra Grande Concept lies a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 HD in a Regular Cab with a long bed configuration. AEV wasted no time enhancing its capabilities, starting with installing the stamped steel front bumper from the Sierra HD AT4X AEV Edition, reinforced with a prototype brush guard for added front-end protection.
But the upgrades don’t stop there. AEV equipped the Sierra Grande Concept with a powerful arsenal, including (4) 7000 series off-road lights and a robust GM Performance/ComeUp 12.5k winch, ensuring it’s ready to tackle any obstacle. To ensure the engine breathes clean air even in the harshest conditions, an AEV Snorkel was added, complementing the beastly 6.6L Duramax diesel engine.
Recognizing the importance of underbody protection in treacherous terrains, AEV fortified the Sierra Grande Concept with stamped steel skid plates, safeguarding critical components such as the front, IFS, and transfer case. Suspension plays a pivotal role in off-road performance. AEV collaborated closely with GMC to integrate a suite of Sierra HD AT4X components, providing a 1.5-inch lift over standard models while maintaining comfort and durability.
The Sierra Grande Concept’s towering stance is made possible by including HighMark fender flares and massive 40-inch BFGoodrich tires mounted on AEV Salta XD wheels, ensuring unrivaled traction and stability. Practicality meets ruggedness with an 8-foot aluminum tray bed, AEV vertical tire mount, and custom rear bumper. At the same time, an ARB On-Board Air System adds convenience to the off-road experience.
Key features of the Sierra Grande Concept include the AT4X suspension components, stamped steel AEV front bumper with winch and off-road lights, AEV snorkel, comprehensive skid plate protection, imposing fender flares, and a host of AEV-designed enhancements tailored for the ultimate overlanding adventure.
We hope that AEV will build the Sierra Grande Concept and make it part of its permanent portfolio. AEV recently produced a limited number of its Ram 2500-based Prospector XL trucks with a tray bed similar to the Grande Concept, so we wouldn’t be surprised if we see a GMC version in the near future.
