In an interesting turn of events, Dodge is reportedly accelerating the release of its upcoming Charger SIXPACK internal combustion engine (ICE) models, with production beginning five months ahead of schedule. Originally planned for a late-2025 debut, these ICE models are now expected to reach dealerships by early summer 2025.
Sources close to MoparInsiders.com indicate that this shift comes as Dodge responds to consumer demand for more performance-focused, combustion-engine muscle cars, even as the brand moves forward with its electric Charger Daytona lineup.
Why Dodge is Fast-Tracking Its Charger SIXPACK ICE Models –
Dodge’s choice to accelerate the launch of its ICE Charger SIXPACK models reflects a strategic response to both shifting U.S. regulatory priorities and strong consumer demand for traditional ICE power. With President-Elect Donald Trump indicating plans to re-evaluate current electric vehicle (EV) mandates and emissions policies, automakers like Dodge now have a chance to adjust their strategies. This shift offers Dodge greater freedom to prioritize its high-performance ICE lineup alongside its EVs, especially given the enduring appeal of ICE muscle cars among enthusiasts.
Initially, Dodge had planned a phased rollout of its all-new Charger lineup, with the all-electric 2024 Charger Daytona First Edition models set to debut first, followed by the ICE Charger SIXPACK in Q1 2025. Not long after the announcement, Dodge pushed the SIXPACK launch back to late 2025. However, with demand and regulatory priorities changing, Dodge has pivoted, accelerating the ICE models’ release timeline to bring the Charger SIXPACK to market sooner. This move allows Dodge to quickly address the demand for ICE muscle cars, especially as consumers continue to show strong pushback toward EVs.
Dodge has yet to officially release the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona First Edition models. Our sources indicate that Dodge was planning to release the current containment of Daytona models by the end of this month. However, that may not happen, as Dodge engineers are working to resolve issues with shock components, software update reflashes, and a few other aspects. Time is ticking, as January 2025 isn’t far off.
What to Expect From the 2025 Charger SIXPACK Models –
Dodge will debut the SIXPACK ICE models with two variants featuring the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter HURRICANE I-6 engine. Dodge plans to offer these models in two- and four-door configurations, with standard-output (S/O) variants generating up to 420 horsepower for the four-door models and high-output (H/O) options reaching 550 horsepower for the two-door version.
The Charger SIXPACK models will mark a return to classic performance muscle cars with turbocharged ICE power. Sources report that Dodge has already begun production trials, with pilot models soon to roll off the Windsor Assembly Plant line. This quicker timeline suggests that Dodge enthusiasts may get their hands on the new Charger SIXPACK by mid-2025.
In addition to the HURRICANE I-6, Dodge will enhance these models with distinctive SIXPACK badges, a different front fascia with a ‘mail-slot’ opening for additional engine cooling, a power dome hood with a ‘SIXPACK’ heat extractor, and rear-exiting dual exhaust.
In recent weeks, the Windsor Assembly Plant has built a handful of these cars as mules; however, initial pilot models will begin production in December, five months ahead of schedule.
A Balanced Muscle Car Strategy –
As Dodge looks toward an evolving automotive landscape, it appears to balance eco-friendly e-muscle options and the unmistakable appeal of high-performance ICE vehicles. More details are expected from Dodge by the end of the year, shedding light on the future of the Charger lineup and Dodge’s commitment to offering options for every kind of performance enthusiast.
